Creator: Kari Vogelgesang, Ph.D., Clinical Associate Professor of Elementary Education, Director of Professional Development for the Scanlan Center for School Mental Health and the Baker Teacher Leader Center.

Description: This module explores the interconnectivity of the 8-dimensions of wellness, how a person’s values and identity shape personal wellness, practices, and habits, and what educators can do to create a system of support for their personal and professional well-being.

Goals:

1.     Participants will be able to explain the difference between wellness and well-being.

2.     Participants will increase their knowledge about the 8 dimensions of wellness.  

3.     Participants will increase their understanding of how their identity and personal values impact the decisions they make about their well-being. 

4.     Participants will learn effective strategies for creating a system that supports their well-being.

Estimated time to complete: 2-3 hours

Completion: Educators will have 31 days to complete the module.* The certificate participants receive after completing each module is not valid for licensure credit. 

* Attention: After submitting an assignment for the module, it might take anywhere from 1-2 weeks for it to be graded. As soon as all assignments are submitted and graded, you will receive an email from Genius letting you know you've completed the module. Also, if you don't complete the module in time, you will be automatially removed from the online module platform and will not receive your certificate of completion.

Licensure Renewal Credit Option: Educators will have to complete all 6 Tier 2 modules to receive a certificate for one Iowa licensure renewal credit.
