Presenters: Nathan Kelley M. Ed, Educational Leadership Fellow, Iowa City Community Schools; Lore Baur, MA, Teacher and Restorative Practices Ambassador, Iowa City Community School District.

Date/Time:

  • 8 hours Synchronous (Zoom) - June 13, 14, 19, 20 from 10 AM-noon
  • 7 hours Asynchronous - Videos, Reading, Reflections

Description: This course focuses on the fundamentals of restorative justice, restorative practices, and relationship building for classroom teachers and service providers.  It explores the role restorative practices play in relationship building and building capacity in dialogue around diversity, equity and inclusion.

  • Identify parts of a restorative circle and types of circles
  • Identify examples of restorative practices and justify their place in classroom/ school settings
  • Identify ways in which to engage students in restorative practices in your classroom and building
  • Plan and implement a tier one circle in your classroom or building.
