Intended Audience: Primary-Secondary educators and other school personal. Open to the public.

Course Description: The Improving Health Outcomes Through Preventing Childhood Obesity Conference equips school leaders with the tools and strategies needed to promote health and wellness among students. Participants will explore how to integrate health education into the classroom, create a supportive school environment for health, and collaborate with families and community organizations to foster healthy habits. This will be accomplished by having professionals from across the country present their cutting-edge research in areas of physical activity, nutrition, child health, and obesity prevention.

Course Learning Goals:

  • Develop Effective Health Education Strategies
    • Participants will learn how to incorporate evidence-based health and wellness curriculum into their schools by promoting nutrition and physical activity, in an age-appropriate way.
  • Implement Collaborative Wellness Program
    • Participants will learn how to build partnerships with community and nonprofit organizations to support student wellness inside and outside the classroom.
  • Identify Health Resources
    • Participants will learn strategies to provide parents with tools and resources to integrate healthy eating habits, physical activity, and wellness practices into their daily family routines.

Course Requirements: Attend the virtual conference on January 13, 2026, from 8:30am-4:30pm. Complete the online Canvas discussion questions and submit them after the conference.
