Course Description:

This course has been designed to bring together education professionals across the state of Iowa to learn about the importance of educator wellness and its connection to social-emotional-behavioral health (SEBH). We will work through topics that address the 8-dimensions of wellness framework (SAMHSA) and evidence-based practices to help educators create systems of habits that support educators leaning into a life of harmony and purpose.

Course Objectives:

  • Examine personal wellness strengths and areas of growth that impact your overall well-being.
  • Identify key issues in education that are impacting your life and work.
  • Analyze strategies and skills that can improve your well-being.
  • Analyze strategies and methods that educators can do to improve the well-being of school systems.
  • Investigate how community systems directly impact school systems and vice versa.

 

Course requirements:

  • Watch or listen to all 8 episodes of season 2.
  • Engage with supporting materials found within the online course platform (Canvas) connected to each episode.
  • Complete the interactive discussions found within the online course platform (Canvas).
  • Complete all pre- and post-assessments for each episode
  • Sequence of plan
    • Listen to/watch all 8 episodes of season two. Engage/complete with all course materials/discussions connected to each episode.
