Full course description

Participants in the Belin-Blank Center’s Advanced Placement Institute (APSI) will focus on a specific content area and learn best practices in providing advanced content to students enrolled in Advanced Placement coursework during the academic year.  Any school wishing to use the AP® designation for transcripts, course listings, or other publications must complete a new College Board Audit for each AP® course. Our AP® Institute (APSI) will prepare every participant to successfully complete the course audit.

Participants will learn strategies to develop an appropriate course syllabus and enrich their course content so that they can appropriately challenge high-ability learners to learn college-level content while in high school.  Participants will also learn how to prepare students for the College Board Advanced Placement Exam.

Participants will participate fully in all class requirements provided by College Board Advanced Placement Consultants.  Consultants engage participants in content-area coursework, as well as in discussions about both content and preparation for the end-of-year College Board Exam.  Participants who receive the APSI certificate, an endorsement from the College Board, in partnership with the Belin-Blank Center, have fulfilled course requirements.

** Attention: If you wish to use this course for licensure renewal credit, make sure to check with your school district for approval prior to registering for the course. If you are working on the State of Iowa Talented and Gifted Endorsement, you should enroll in the academic credit option, EDTL:5080:0WKA (email educators@belinblank.org for additional information).
